Taco Bell seems to enjoy burning bridges; first with McDonald’s and now it’s coming for Chipotle.

With the buzz about the unknown ingredients that make up 12% of their meat, I can understand why people are hesitant now more than ever to eat at the fast-food chain.

However, Taco Bell and YUM! Brands are still coming up with creative ways to reinvent themselves.

Coming this summer, to only two lucky  Southern California cities (Huntington Beach and Los Angeles), Taco Bell and Yum! Brands will debut their new restaurant, U.S. Taco Co. and Urban Taproom.

The Day of the Dead themed restaurant will consist of unique premium tacos, seasoned steak-cut fries, and for the lushes, alcohol-infused shakes; all a perfect combination for Taco Tuesday.

U.S. Taco Co. seeks to be the next “go to” for authentic Mexican food making Chipotle a thing of the past. With fresher ingredients and an inviting ambiance, hopefully this will change consumer’s views on the company disregarding its relations to the popular fast food chain restaurant, Taco Bell.

Another restaurant that should be watching it’s back is Pink Taco. The popular restaurant, which currently has two locations in Los Angeles, has been the local Mexican food hangout for Angelenos for over a decade with its upscale vibe and pricer meals. It, too, has banked on the “Day of the Dead” theme.

U.S. Taco Co. is looking to steal the crown from Pink Taco.

One item on the taproom’s menu that makes it unique is its heaven-sent milkshake, rightfully named the Mexican Car Bomb (not to be confused with the Irish Car Bomb). The milkshake combines the flavors of vanilla ice cream, tequila caramel sauce, chocolate flakes and Guinness stout. The Mexican Car Bomb will join over 50 beers and wines available for purchase.

Unfortunately for the beach bums in Huntington Beach, they will not be able to enjoy the spiked milkshake. Taco Bell has reported that no alcohol will be served at this location due to the city creating stricter regulations on alcohol licensing.

The first location of these restaurants will open as early as July and not to complain but I still haven’t received my exclusive grand opening invitation. 

As far as expanding and reinventing the company, YUM! Brands has been testing various upscale restaurants, including a chicken sandwich shop in Texas.
